About This Class

The quest for Inner Peace and Physical Health has been at the core of man’s
existence since the beginning of time. Simple, effective and proven through
centuries of practice, the theories behind traditional Reiki remain a path to acheive these and greater milestones in health, joy and personal transformation.

Pronounced "ray-kee", Reiki is an energy medicine practice. As in Eastern healing traditions, it is based on the under- standing that by degree, disease reflects an imbalance in one's energy systems causing a disruption in the optimal function of either body, mind, and emotion, or their combination. Reiki practitioners serve to requalify, realign or recharge the flow of vital energy called “Chi”, aiding the body's curative systems to restore conditions present in normal health and function.

Beneficial in almost any condition ranging from physical illness or injury, to mental-emotional stress or fatigue, Reiki is a gentle, non-intrusive therapy that almost anyone can easily learn and effectively use in a wide range of maladies both chronic and acute. Those receiving Reiki report benefits in such areas as shortened healing times, mood elevation, and quality-of-life considerations.

Best of all, Reiki’s benefits extend to those who are free of mental, emotional or physical issues by supporting continued well being, peace of mind and ongoing balance in daily affairs. Relationships, both at home and work, reflect new levels of harmony and productivity allowing one to focus on living an abundant, purpose-driven life.

What Will I Learn ?

This course opens the door of under- standing of Reiki, including it’s history and operation, as well as an examination of its specific uses. Complete with extensive hands-on demonstrations and clinical applications, students become familiar with the application and uses of Reiki for themselves, friends and family. Medical professionals and massage therapists may add the benefits of Reiki at this level as an intergrative modality to established client and patient care. Four activating attunements, which are at the heart of the system, are provided by a Certified Reiki Master Instructor (CRMI), completing a permanent energetic connection to this universal life energy.

Reiki and Modern Medicine

We use probably 50-80 percent of nonpharmacologic methods in our NIH pain clinic, meaning non-medication. The things we use include massage, relaxation, hypnosis, and Reiki therapy, which is also very helpful in fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndromes.”

Ann Berger, R.N., M.S.N., M.D.,

Medical oncologist specializing in pain treatment, Chief of the Pain and Palliative Care Service at the National Institute of Health in Washington, D.C.
